A silk tree (Albizia julibrissin) flowers in Yokoyama view point in Ise-Shima National Park. Blooming from June to August, this unusual-looking tree is recognized as the official tree of Shima City in Mie Prefecture.
It’s said the Japanese name, ‘nemunoki,’ or ‘sleeping tree,’ derives from the way the leaves close up at night.
