At the end of the Chain of Craters road in Volcanoes National Park you can spot a really cool arch, called the Holei Sea Arch. This arch was formed by a process called differential erosion, whereby different layers of hardness in separate lava flows erode at different paces. However beautiful this arch is, it will not last long, as it will eventually fall victim to the continuous pounding of the sea. But what the sea takes, the sea also gives, for another arch will (in time) form along the coast through the same process. I stopped at this arch a few times to photograph it and this last time, when the setting sun turned the whole world this beautiful pink, proved to be the lucky one.
