Kawagebo Peak: Part of the Meili Snow Mountain range it is Yunnan's highest and most sacred peak for Tibetans. Though 5 attempts have been made, it has never been successfully climbed and several have died trying. And since 2001, a law was passed banning any future attempts for religious reasons - Tibetans believe disaster will follow if humans set foot on its peak. They worship Kawagarbo, the god who resides their by circumambulating the mountain, an arduous 2 week, 150 mile trek.
