RepostBy @moonflowaa: "Sometimes you're at work (and for once not actively working) and you get to see a person (in person!) who has made a big impact on your life from a young age. This is a video of one of Alexis DeJoria's qualifying runs (obviously didn't go well this run) but her husband is the man in the red hat. That's @popeofwelding. I watched him on TV since I was a youngin', seeing his creative ways to solve problems with fabrication and mechanical things, from the show Monster Garage and beyond. As a young girl I saw how he didn't treat females mechanics, welders or fabricators ANY differently than their male counterparts, and enthusiastically encouraged every single person to come up with unique ideas and solutions to problems. It really made an impression as a young girl myself, much more interested in mechanics and fabrication than about anything else at that point. Granted, I have not yet gotten to seriously pursue welding or fabrication, but have been interested in and worked in strongly male dominated fields since high school. Jesse, I deeply appreciate your can do attitude and humility in wanting to work hard and make quality products. I do too. Who cares what you look like or what your gender is. Be earnest, keep after it, and never stop learning! #keeppushing #workhard #girlsrule" ...................... Hey @moonflowaa Thank you so much for the kind words you posted. You really made my day. A lot of people judge me based on how I look or what tabloids tell them, but you're right about me. I could care less what color or gender you are or if your gay or straight or transsexual. None of that matters when there is work to be done. It just comes down to how hard you work and how hard you try. The tools and machines have no idea who's using them. Sounds like you have it most of the way figured out. That's a good thing. I hope to meet you and shake your hand one day.... #jessejames
