Photo by @joepetersburger // EMERALD EYES // I took my #3 daughters to the beach of a lake at a the weekend alone. Mother was at work. I was a bit worried, but everything was OK and super fun! On the way back they asked for a rest stop in the forest. One of my sweeties called me that she "found something, which might raise my interest". She found this unique and rare biting #horsefly, called Silvius alpinus, what I have not seen before in my life as a professional biologist... She is well trained at age 6 and knew exactly, that it could harm her. But she did not scream, run away, just called me gently. The #fly was really calm for some reason, so I could get really close with careful approach to get this shot on those fantastic, #emerald green compound eyes. Special thanks to all of my daughters, who had the patience for having this frame!!! It was taken about 15 miles from our home. No need to travel far away for fantastic experience.
