This is one of the largest examples of Chinese embroidery. Dating from the 8th century, it stands nearly 2.5 metres tall! It depicts the Sakyamuni Buddha preaching, accompanied by two disciples and two bodhisattvas. The scene is thought to be set on the Vulture Peak, a Buddhist site in north-east India. The silk embroidery is being conserved for a round-the-world trip – see our story to find out how!
