This 8th-century Chinese silk embroidery is being conserved for a round-the-world voyage. Conservators are using many different techniques to clean and restore the embroidery, and are learning more about it in the process. Here conservator Hannah is carefully removing particles embedded in the fibres using a special kind of vacuum cleaner – a painstaking task. The whole process takes around 40 hours!
