Inside this ball of twine is a mysterious object unknown to the artist. When creating this “assisted Readymade,” #Duchamp asked his friend and patron, Walter Arensberg, to put something inside the ball of twine without sharing what it was. If shaken, the object rattles, thus the title, “With Hidden Noise.”
