Brittany, with her beautiful smile and sweet, gentle spirit captured my heart! Brittany likes to cook and garden, and she loves animals ?She's 14 years old; the same age as our own daughter, Bella. I can't imagine how it feels to wonder if you will ever have a family to call your own. I'm posting and sharing her story with you here in hopes that seeing her face, hearing her dreams will inspire those out there who have the room in their heart to give an older child a forever family to go for it! A few months ago we had a very special day at our farm when I had the privilege of interviewing kids in the foster care system right here in own home state who are in danger of "aging out." That means that these kids reach 18 without a family to adopted them and then they are on their own. It's heartbreaking and wrong! Every child deserves a family! Sadly this happens to about 30,000 young people in our country each year, and statistically when this happens the rate if homelessness, drug abuse, un-planned pregnancy and prison-time for this kids is way too high.
