I was OUTRAGED that Firefox was forcing me to use Yahoo for every search. *********
THE SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM ? No amount of fiddling with preferences made any difference. The way my esteemed pal Justin finally got rid of the hijacking by Yahoo was
1) go into the HELP menu at top of the Firefox homepage.
2) go into TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION.
3) Hit REFRESH. I am now Yahoo free.
