The word “mentor” is particularly dear to me, because it’s the yeast of every young life, because it implies words such as wisdom, support, advice... In my first approach to singing, I was mentored by Luciano Bettarini. He was played by a great actor, Antonio Banderas, who took part in the film "The Music of Silence", inspired by the story of my youth (airing in Italy this evening on Rai1).
To mitigate the embarrassment of being the focus of so much attention, I think that every life is an incredible story that deserves to be told... Every life is a work of art, and if sometimes it does not seem so, perhaps it’s just because you need to light up the room that contains it. The secret is never to lose confidence, and to trust in God’s plan for us, and in the signs He uses to show us the way.

“Mentore” è parola a me particolarmente cara, perché lievito d’ogni giovane vita, perché contiene implicitamente vocaboli quali saggezza, sostegno, consiglio... Nel primo approccio al canto il mio mentore fu Luciano Bettarini. Ed è nei suoi panni che un grande attore, Antonio Banderas, ha preso parte al film “La musica del silenzio”, ispirato alla storia della mia giovinezza (in Italia sarà trasmesso questa sera su @rai1official).
A mitigare l’imbarazzo dell’essere oggetto di tanta attenzione, mi corre in aiuto il pensiero che ogni vita è una storia meravigliosa, degna d'essere raccontata... Ogni vita è un'opera d'arte, e se talora non sembra tale, forse è solo necessario illuminare la stanza che la contiene. Il segreto è non perdere mai la fiducia, e confidare nel piano di Dio, pensato per noi, nei segni con i quali ci indica la strada.
