This morning, crowds swirled outside @le_grand_palais in #Paris, funneling through a checkpoint monitored by guards into the glass-ceilinged hall — only to discover they had entered an alternate reality. A cliff almost 50 feet high loomed over a river canyon, 6 waterfalls streaming down its side into a placid green flow. Leafy trees and grasses peeked over the edges and around the banks, and out of caves in the cliff’s side, the models emerged. @カールラガーフェルド had reimagined the verdant gorge of Verdon, in southeastern #France, for his @シャネル show. In the wake of the Las Vegas carnage, the stark contrast between fantasy and horror was impossible to ignore. "Paris is a city that has seen its fair share of contemporary trauma," writes @nytimesfashion’s chief critic, Vanessa Friedman. "When one of its most cherished industries opts for what may seem like frivolity, it does so not out of ignorance, but experience.
