A friend asked on Tuesday, if I thought people were getting back to ‘normal’ (referring to online posting - no banners over profile pics, etc.) a lot sooner than after previous tragedies. And whether this was in fact the case, or whether we just weren’t seeing as much (thanks algorithms). Thoughts??? We talked about whether mass casualties had become our new norm and if/how we talk to our children about it. As for us, we did talk to Mayhem about what happened in Las Vegas and why we believe in much stricter gun laws. And then we talked about the helpers. All the amazing people who protected and cared for each other amidst chaos. I’m not entirely certain we did the right thing, but it feels like it’s becoming increasingly difficult to shield our kids from the barrage of tragedies.
