@rosemcgowan spoke out publicly for the first time since accusing producer Harvey Weinstein of rape, calling on women to fight back against a culture of sexual harassment. "The scarlet letter is theirs; it is not ours," McGowan said at the Women's Convention in Detroit on Oct. 27, 2017. "I have been silenced for 20 years ... I have been slut-shamed. I have been harassed. I have been maligned, and you know what? I'm just like you because what happened to me behind the scenes happens to all of us in this society. And that cannot stand, and it will not stand." Weinstein reached a $100,000 settlement with McGowan in 1997 following an incident in a hotel room during the Sundance Film Festival when she was 23, @ニューヨーク・タイムズ reported; the legal document said it was "not to be construed as an admission." She is one of several women who have come forward in recent weeks to accuse Weinstein of sexual harassment and assault in reports published by the Times and @The New Yorker. "No more. Name it.
