Objects conservators Anna Serotta (@annaserotta), Carolyn Riccardelli (@carolynriccardelli), and Debbie Schorsch recently conducted a technical examination of “William” the hippo in honor of his 100th anniversary at The Met. Using stereo microscopy, ultraviolet radiation, and computed radiography, the conservators gained insights into the materials and methods used to make this object nearly 4,000 years ago.
