Getting carried away: our #London #Collections sale, taking place today and tomorrow, brings together a wonderful array of furniture, paintings and whimsical objects from English and European private collections. Pictured here is a late 18th-century sedan chair. Named after the town of Sedan in France where they were first used, Sedan chairs were a major mode of transportation throughout the 17th, 18th centuries and early part of the 19th century. Also represented here is a Louis XVI style carved giltwood chair. #SothebysDecArts
