Rosanne Solis was in the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, when Devin P. Kelley started shooting, severely wounding her shoulder. Rosanne says she was still in the hospital recovering from her wound when TV reports revealed that the gunman had purchased a weapon from a sporting goods store in San Antonio. Unlike many of her neighbors who believe the response to such shootings should be to carry guns into church as self-defense, Rosanne said the shooting pointed out the need for tighter gun restrictions. She's still trying to comprehend the full scope of the tragedy. Rosanne, 57, and her boyfriend, Joaquín Ramírez, had frequented the church over the past year and found it a welcoming environment. “It was especially good for the kids, who could show up in their jammies, run around, play hide-and-seek,” she said, grasping the place on her shoulder where she was shot. “I feel so sad for all the little children who passed away.” @heislerphoto took this photo of Rosanne while on #nytassignment in Texas.
