on the early morning breeze came the pang of bells from the old church in town - carried on the wind and signaling the early hour .

I could hear them as I returned from my walk clearly marking out the rhythm of things in the new day .

And inside I began marking out a rhythm of my own - pulling plates and glassware ahead of the holiday - marking out our nine place settings, hanging out linens on the line in the clear autumn sunlight, laying out or yearly recipes and revising changing imaging new possibilities. Checking the pantry for necessary staples and ding and subtracting amounts as needed .

it is rhythm I love - a ritual really and preforming it each year signals the impending arrivals and a full house many meals and late nights and walks in the country air after dinners .

the farm is beginning to look a bit like our table with @littlethingsbyjulia the other day and @bartoncroft plates will surely be making an appearance this thursday
