On view for its final day in our #NewBondStreet galleries! ‘Factory Party Meeting’ by Georgy Rublev, (1933) will be offered for auction as part of our #RussianArt week sales in #London tomorrow. Known as ‘the Russian #Matisse’, Rublev was at the forefront of the struggle to find a suitable proletarian artistic style that rejected professionalism and didn’t borrow from bourgeois culture, following the 1917 #Russian revolution. This led to an upsurge of interest in primitive art and the art of children - demonstrated by this work - which overtly celebrates the concept of ‘Partiinost’, or ‘Party Spirit’, in a self-consciously primitive style. #SovietArt #SothebysRussian #GeorgyRublev
