I have an announcement about the situation with @lakehavenrescue My mom had a long phone call with Cathy Bissell and @bissellpets is going to change their adoption section grant application for rescues and put an area in it and ask if they declaw cats. If a rescue declaws cats then Bissell will not fund them. As many of you know, Lake Haven Animal Rescue in Newaygo, Michigan is declawing most of the kittens, young cats, and even some older cats that they bring in before they are put up for adoption. ? Lake Haven Rescue receives a generous donation from Bissell Pet Foundation for spay and neutering services. Because Lake Haven Rescue declaws cats, Bissell Pet Foundation will no longer provide this funding to Lake Haven so this will affect hundreds of animals unfortunately. What’s really sad is the director/founder of Lake Haven Rescue, Cheryl McCloud, could start a campaign to educate the public about the facts about declawing and how it always harms the long term health and well being of a cat. She could educate her supporters and the public about the simple, commonsense humane alternatives so they wouldn’t want this inhumane and mutilating procedure done to their cats. But she won’t and just feels that she must declaw the kittens and cats because it gets them into homes quicker and prevents them from being euthanized. Please donate to Bissell Pet Foundation and let them know that you appreciate all the work they do to help animal overpopulation and thank Cathy Bissell and her foundation for doing the right thing. It’s not too late for Lake Haven Rescue’s Cheryl McCloud to do the right thing and be a true advocate for all animals and stop declawing so that she can receive Bissell’s generous financial support for spay and neutering and so that all her cats can have healthy lives free of any pain and suffering. I’m also sad to say that the E litter of kittens were all declawed on Friday by Lake Haven Rescue. ???????I begged this rescue director to not have them declawed and I would help find them a home but she didn’t want to listen.
