Ladies & gents, please meet my man Ricky, one of the students at #WashingtonPrepHighSchool in Inglewood, Los Angeles.
I’ve been working with the @baftala #GiveSomethingBack program at the school over the last 5 years.
It’s hugely inspiring watching them make their films which express so much about the tough social conditions they live with : Gangs, drugs & poverty amongst others.
Through their films the kids teach each other how to handle what they are growing up with.
I was down there last week when KTLA news channel; shot a piece about Bafta LA and our involvememt with the school (being broadcast tonight).
On this #GivingTuesday we’re raising money to expand the program for Wash Prep and beyond. We’re creating a Film Summer Camp where they will shoot a full length feature with the help of us, the Bafta LA mentors.
After seeing some of their amazing short films I can’t wait to see what they will produce for a full length film…
