What a sand-sational stretch of beach! ? It’s easy to see why #WhitehavenBeach in the @whitsundaysqld is known as one of the world's most beautiful beaches - it's pretty spectacular! The fine, white silica sand here is different from most other beaches in the #Whitsundays, which tend to have more coarse sand that includes fragments of shell and coral. According to scientists, the most likely explanation is that #Whitehaven's quartz-rich sand was carried by prevailing sea currents along the @queensland coast millions of years ago.
