These two Santa hats were worn on Christmas Day 2011 during an expedition to Antarctica. They are part of a large collection of equipment used by the Australian adventurers, James (Cas) Castrission and Justin (Jonesy) Jones, on the ‘Crossing the Ice’ Antarctic expedition, the first unsupported trek to the South Pole, undertaken from 16 October 2011-26 January 2012.
The hats were purchased by Jonesy as a surprise for Cas and hidden in the sledge specifically to wear on Christmas Day to lift their spirits during the gruelling expedition. #MAASCollection
