‘My highlight of 2017’ – Cy Twombly’s ‘Leda and the Swan’ was, for our specialist Koji Inoue, ‘the most anticipated picture of the season’.

Hidden from public view for almost 30 years, ‘Leda and the Swan’ became the top lot of our Post-War and Contemporary Art auction in May, setting a world record for a 1960s-era painting by the artist.

Twombly’s other work of the same name and size is one of the most visited paintings in New York’s Museum of Modern Art (@ニューヨーク近代美術館).

‘For me, the most memorable aspect of what we achieved with this very important painting was our exceptional teamwork,’ says Inoue.
