A boldly drawn dragon swirls around the body of this bulbous storage jar. The iron glaze has been applied in loose, calligraphic lines. Iron glazes became a popular decoration for Korean white wares from the seventeenth century onward, when cobalt blue was expensive and available supplies were not always of the highest quality.
