“Maintaining a sense of calm and equilibrium when one’s sense of place was increasingly chaotic would be one description for last year, and for me, completely illustrated in “Gothic.” Strong bold black figures of varying size and gestures darting randomly across a plane of colors. The closer and longer you look however, what is at first without pattern and potentially a lot of noise, becomes lyrical and precise and achieving focus.
