In 2002, at the beginning of her 90s, Louise Bourgeois constructed the fabric book “Ode à l'Oubli” out of 60-year-old, monogrammed hand towels from her 1938 wedding trousseau. Then, working from one page to the next, Bourgeois cut, arranged, and stitched bits and pieces of her own used clothing and household textiles to form 32 fabric collages and 3 lithographs.
