When I was a kid it wasn't a law to wear your seatbelt. Babies weren't required to be in car seats, and there weren't even air bags in cars. Thousands of people were killed in car accidents back then. Since then we have studied ways to figure out how to lower car accidents. We have added reflectors on highway streets and even put divots in the highway to let you know you're off the road. The roads now even have better signage. There are now more cops enforcing drunk driving and speeding laws. Every car has air bags throughout the car and it is against the law to drive, without a seatbelt, while texting or with an open alcoholic beverage in your vehicle. Kids under a certain age have to be in car seats. We studied our problem then!! Why can we not study our gun problem now? Why is there a law in place that prevents us from studying the use of guns in America. Don't you all think we could help limit all of this gun violence? America is under an epidemic and until we change our laws, we will be watching another school shooting before we know it. We are so preoccupied with "building a wall" in this country yet the real terrorism is happening right here by our own citizens inside our own borders. Here's our current process America- tragedy strikes, we all weigh in on Facebook or Insragram, the media debates and no policies change- no action is taken, we all go back to our regular lives and we forget, weeks later it happens again. Meanwhile, 17 families in Parkland are planning their children's funerals. We HAVE to do better. Call your local representatives and lobby for them to get rid of the dickey amendment!
