Fiordland National Park, South Island, New Zealand. This World Heritage site is stunningly beautiful no matter what the weather. The rain stopped briefly to reveal this view of Dusky Sound from our helicopter. There are no roads in its 10,000 square kilometers of pristine wilderness, accessible only by boat or by air. On assignment for The Nature Conservancy’s Asia Pacific council, here to learn about the Department of Conservation management of endangered species such as the flightless Takahe.
