My visit to YMCA nationals was short, but it was incredible! These athletes are part of such a vibrant swim culture, I’ve never seen anything quite like it. So I thought to myself, “how is one supposed to create that culture for their own environment?” And I feel that answer is a mixture of willingness, trust, and desire for fun. It can be scary to act silly and wear crazy outfits (not shown in the picture, but definitely in the competition), but if you trust your teammates to do the same with you and laugh at your own goofy self, you are helping to create a fun environment and culture others strive for. Outside of the fun atmosphere that was constantly present on deck, there was some fast swimming! Congratulations to all the swimmers who made the meet, and good luck for the rest of the competition!
