The population of the Tsleil Waututh First Nation was reduced to 13 members at the turn of the last century. Today, the number has risen to about 500 and they are ready to #WarriorUp. Reuben is dedicated to stopping fossil fuel expansion in the Salish Sea and he speaks to audiences around the world to create understanding and to build alliances. He wants people to know that there are Indigenous laws and processes in place that are being ignored. He’s knowledgeable, educated and reasonable and despite his heart-ache, frustration and powerful physical presence, he remains focused and calm. Sundance Chief Rueben George represents the future of what it means to be a steward of the land. Like his father and his grandfather before him, he is standing up for a sustainable future. *
