Good morning! Happy Sunday! I remember this moment like it was yesterday. Looking out thinking wow, our world is just so beautiful. I see it now and wonder how we’re going to keep it this way. One thing we know for sure is that we have to do it together. By now you probably know that every Sunday I donate my social media to my @YearsofLiving team to talk about carbon pricing! Please read these posts, please SHARE these posts and PLEASE get involved!!! Below is a post from Ana Rae Miller, a senior at Western Washington University. “It’s easy to assume the effects from climate change will be far off in the future, and therefore irrelevant for us to worry about. But everyday, our society experiences real, tangible impacts from climate change and it is the most vulnerable populations that experience the growing crisis most directly. The catastrophic effects predicted by climate scientists are not happening some day in the future, but are happening now, and will only get worse until we do something about our societal fossil fuel addiction. Before our eyes, the atmosphere warms, oceans acidify, glaciers and sea ice melt, forests and habitat vanish, and communities become increasingly polluted. Although overwhelming to think about, we must remember these impacts of climate change threaten to destroy everything we value and rely upon to survive. Putting a price on carbon provides an equitable and effective solution to climate change, by holding corporate polluters accountable for their actions. When we think ahead to the future we want for ourselves and for future generations, we want clean air and clean water; we want productive, healthy oceans and forests; and we want a society where we, the people, don’t have to pay for the consequences of corporate pollution. Carbon pricing invests in a better future, with clean energy, strengthened communities, and the chance for everyone to live in a healthy, clean, and just environment.”
