I spent the latter part of the afternoon chasing my son around a playground that we had all to ourselves. It was probably the best chunk of two hours of all the two hours out there. I can’t explain it other than it was the world where there’s no phone, no distractions, no rat race, no complexities, no noise. We sat for a moment to catch our breaths and he proceeded to tell me that he saw me. “No, I really see your heart mommy.” He told me where he perceived I was being strong, where he knew I wasn’t happy even if I didn’t complain, where I was working really hard and what he thought I deserved. He told me that I was the best mommy he could wish for and that he appreciates that I do my best to help him be confident and do the right thing. He said he’s been making wishes day and night for me so that my wishes will come true. He told me that he loved our playground time and asked if we could have more of that.

When you see your child’s ageless spirit speak. When you see their heart being able to intuit, empathize and look beyond. I don’t have words for it. There are no words. And yes, without a second thought, we can have all the playground time in the world.

I’ve been sharing more here lately. I haven’t been paying attention to algorithms or all the things that you’re supposed to. It’s easier to curate like clockwork but I’m more interested in sharing what inspires my heart, the yawp that I wrestle with between convention and taking risks, the sweat and tears and grit as well as the light, laughter and joy. This year has been a journey into the true. I’m changing and growing and this space seems to be taking different form too. Thank you to all who have graced me with such kindness, encouragement and cheer along the way. Thank you for holding space as I shift gears. It’s such a gift. ❤️
