Authenticity continued, have we unfortunately become a society that is chasing likes and followers instead of living real moments. Has it created a hysteria within ourselves and our culture? Where do we draw the line about chasing this perfection. I’ve noticed that I view my feeds different, I have this one that I have such pressure to only display perfect moments that I simply stopped posting my own images and instead rely on images from others....which is great in theory, if I actually invested more effort into our website, but I don’t. I found that I wasn’t even liking or commenting on images because I was afraid it’d throw off the algorithm....does anyone even know what it is? Instead I created my personal account (@benashby) where it feels like I have freedom to post the authentic life I live and has the freedom to like and commented on whatever I want....from my the overly nude nudes of my friends to the babies and kids of my high school friends, it felt like a gained a freedom to enjoy social again....but that very well may just be a side effect of having a business account verses a personal account. For me I wonder, how is this changing and manipulating our mental health? ...and is it worth it? What is reality anymore? We live in a time where we cannot trust the news to not be skewed for biased ratings, we live in a world where we know all marketing and product promotions is purely based on pay scale, and we live in a world where we’re continually chasing the Jones, but when you’ve got a million kids standing in the middle of streets taking Tripod influencer style selfies, who are the Jone’s and is there even any accountability? This conversation continues in the next post. || Photo by @kaitykatt #liveauthentic
