Swipe to see the full picture → Jannatul holds her 29-day-old daughter Ayedatujannah at a UNICEF-supported health centre in Dhaka, #Bangladesh. “Her name, Ayedatujannah, means ‘she who returned from heaven,’” says Jannatul. “We spent 15 days in the health facility; the first four days, she was on life support. We weren’t sure if she was going to live or die. So, when she survived, it was as if she was coming back from heaven. I couldn’t touch my baby for more than seven days, it wasn’t safe for her. After that, the doctor showed me how to breastfeed her – she latched on immediately. Breastfeeding was the best thing, I do it 10 times per day. I’m so happy that she’s with me. I just hope she becomes a good person and that she is capable of leading her own life in a good way.
