Sitka National Historical Park in #Alaska is home to several species of birds, but perhaps the most charismatic and majestic bird in the park is the #baldeagle. ? They can often be spotted soaring above the water, searching the tide flats for food or along the tree line. Eagles are especially noticeable during the spring herring spawn and fall salmon runs, when they feed on fish carcasses in the river and contribute to a cycle of replenishing the forest’s nutrients with fish remains. Eagles nesting inside @sitkanps is not unusual, and the visitors can spot the eagles while walking amongst totem poles on the trail.
