I remember I didn’t question myself just snapped it quickly in my car (prob on a flip phone) and posted it. At the time I didn’t have a lot to compare it to and didn’t second guess myself. Ive always considered myself an open book but as social media grew I found the doubt shutting me down. How could I not sit and compare. It got worse as people’s judgments were voiced and negativity got written in the comments. I would question myself and want to hide away. The struggle of how to show my authentic self and hold onto it in the face of others became very real. So I had to hold on to my unique truth and remind myself of the purpose I set when I started my social media. From the beginning I always wanted my page to be a place of openness, acceptance, education and honesty. To show authentic parts of myself as I evolve, learn, travel and grow. To be able to connect with others so we all felt less alone. Sometimes it can be hard to reveal your struggles and be vulnerable but I see the opportunity to relate to others, even one person. I see how we can educate each other on matters in the world from our point of view. I see a place to be inspired and inspire others. So here’s me. Where I am at now. Raw and real. Unfiltered and unedited. Just like you. Snapping a pic with no judgement. To show you I have flaws but your judgments don’t stop me. The connections we have on here can be real! It doesn’t matter how many followers, we have an opportunity to share and connect. To illuminate, heal, entertain, inspire... To make social media a place of positivity. To spread love to others.
