Shecky turns 12 today! One time, I went to the mall to score some wiener and #Shecky was the result of that quest! She is my tiny, elongated shadow and nobody on Earth is as devoted to me, finds me as interesting, or interrupts as many of my podcasts as Shecky. It’s a strange relationship we share with dogs - one in which we project a lot of thoughts and intentions onto these furry little canvases and tell ourselves we know what they’re trying to say. But Shecky needs no such guess work: she is excellent at conveying exactly what she’s thinking - which is usually “Walk me, Fat-Ass!” Though we don’t share a common language, this boy and his dog share a heart and soul. This is not just a #doxie, this dog is my co-pilot - the Chewie to my Han, the Silent Bob to my Jay. She’s defended my house from rats and lost a tooth fighting a raccoon in the back-yard, so she’s fiercely protective. I hope she lives a thousand years and eventually becomes President - because I’d follow this little brown dog anywhere (which would likely lead to another dog’s pile of shit)!
