Photo by @pedromcbride // The face of wildfire: The Lake Christine Fire in Colorado lights up Basalt Mountain with an ember storm display last week forcing the evacuation of over 500 homes and consuming over 6,000 acres. The fire continues to burn at 45% containment, but thankfully the small communities nearby continue relatively unscathed. With rain scarce, rivers at record low drought levels and hot and dry getting hotter and dryer, wildfires are becoming more common as some 60 fires across the southwest continue to rage. The cause of this fire was linked to a local target range that remained open despite official requests to close during fire restrictions.
