Fukushima: A virtually abandoned elementary school’s playground with a platform for the morning assembly, in Tomioka, Fukushima, due to the 2011 Fukushima nuclear power plant disaster. The residents in the area are now allowed to return to their home and the Japanese government has urged so. Yet, because of the worry of the low radiation impact as well as the lack of facilities of hospitals and schools and public transportation for school kids, so many of them, especially young families with children, have decided not to return.
