Photo by @MichaelGeorge // Niran may look like your average clouded leopard cub, but she is one-of-a-kind. She was the first clouded leopard ever to be born from an artificial insemination procedure using frozen semen. The Nashville Zoo partnered with the Smithsonian's National Zoo & Conservation Biology Institute for the successful procedure. The @nashvillezoo reports: "Captive clouded leopard populations aren't self-sustaining, which creates the need for reproductive management techniques such as the artificial insemination program to maintain captive populations not only in the U.S., but also throughout the world" Niran was born in March of 2017 and photographed here in September of 2017.
