Atlantic walruses dive for up to 6 to 8 minutes at a time, using their highly sensitive whiskers, or vibrissae, to find buried clams. On each dive, they will gorge on dozens of clams, ultimately eating anywhere from 3000 to 6000 a day. This walrus gave me a good look as it walked up a gravel beach to digest a belly full of clams. #FollowMe on @PaulNicklen to learn why diving with these animals is a real challenge.
