A kaleidoscopic of psychedelic colours, Thomas Ruff’s ‘Substrat 30 III’ is an example of his ‘Substratum’ series and demonstrates his experiments with photography in the digital age.⠀

For the series, Ruff surfed the internet to extract images from Japanese manga and anime, transforming them into unrecognisable technicolour fields, before printing the work on photographic paper using conventional methods.⠀
