Hi! I’m Steve Velasquez and I’m a Curator for the Division of Home and Community Life at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. My interests include: Latino history and identity, food ways, and immigration/migration history. I was a co-curator for the Bracero Oral History Project and associated traveling exhibit, “Bittersweet Harvest: The Bracero Program 1942-1964,” among others. I’m currently working on several research and collecting projects, including one on the experiences of Cuban “Pedro Pans” (children sent from Cuba to the U.S. in the 1960s) and Mexican vineyard.
