Wednesday: 割包 Guabao, a Taiwanese style bao, open like a sandwich rather than the closed style you might find in Shanghai or other parts of China. Mine are filled with twice cooked belly pork (I saw the recipe on @millitaylor’s Stories ages ago, poached in spices and then fried) with hoisin, pickles, avocado, crushed peanut, coriander leaf ??? Mark’s exact words upon finishing “that was a GREAT breakfast!”

I bought the guabao buns frozen which made the whole thing possible for a weekday breakfast. Steam some buns, fill, eat, byeeeeeeeeee. Interestingly, they originate from Fujian province, but now are most commonly eaten in Taiwan. The more you know! #symmetrybreakfast
