I’m all heart. I don’t know any other way to live. I’ve learned that it’s often not easy to simply accept and be honest in regards to who/how I am. But I’ve come to know my limits, the things I cannot deal with and the things I have a world of patience for. I spent so much of my life denying these parts of my heart in order to appease others or simply be accepted but it only served to etch away any remnant of authenticity and acceptance from my own self. It took many trials and errors but I made peace with being able to maneuver through life and how I relate to the world being who I am honestly. It can be really challenging and gritty at times. I’ve found that criticism and frustration can come from others quickly because honesty entails light and when light shines it can bring forth a lot discomfort in our surroundings. And the same goes when light shines within our own dark corners. The natural inclination is to hide and point the finger elsewhere. But that’s just denial and fear saying, “Don’t grow! Don’t change! It will hurt too much! You’ll look stupid!” It sounds ridiculous typing it out but it’s such a cycle of our humanity. If you’re honest with who you are, you might be called many things. Too sensitive, out of your mind, too this or too that. But if you know who you are, you will know what’s true about you in the end. So hold onto what’s true. Own it, be proud of it and be proud for having the gentle resolve to stand when whirlwinds whiplash around you. Gentleness is stronger than fierceness and a humble heart with nothing to prove cannot be shaken. That said, we need to have positive support from those in our life. I shared these thoughts with my husband, who encouraged me in writing them and thanked me for sharing them with him. What a world of difference it makes to have a life partner who believes in you, appreciates and loves you as you are. ❤️
