This extraordinary portrait by Swiss painter Albert Anker - unseen in public for over 80 years - showcases the prowess he is renowned for in capturing intimate domestic scenes. Here, he depicts a young girl – his most sought-after subjects – engrossed in her studies. This exceptional work was only ever exhibited a handful of times, in 1910, 1911, 1928 and 1931.
