The World at Night project
Long exposure images of sky motion (Earth rotation) creating star trails reminds many of the swirls in the Van Gogh “Starry Night”. This was a peaceful night of November in the Yosemite National Park, California. No wind and crystal-clear sky. The golden aspen trees and towering sheer cliffs were softly shining under the moonlight. The north star Polaris (center of the trails) was right above them. I was enjoying the midnight quietness during this one-hour image (timelapse), with the occasional sounds of animals in the near and far distance. Being a night sky photographer for over 2 decades I enjoyed many of our planet’s starry sky sanctuaries and the U.S. National Parks are ranked high on my list.
