I know this is hard to look at, photos like this aren’t intended for “likes” they’re taken to generate awareness. Believe me when I say that taking this picture gave me no pleasure whatsoever. Its unclear what the reason for this penguins death is, this is the sad circle of life in nature and its passing brings life to others. What was notably shocking on our trip was diminishing ice, a theme throughout our trip along the western peninsula. This area is warming faster then nearly anywhere else on the planet and the fragility of #Antarctica is being tested. As we continue to loose ice its effecting every mammal here. Most animals here feed off of krill and krill feed on plankton that grows on ice. As the bottom of the food chain is being tested it inevitably affects everything above it. A massive ecosystem depends on this place and so do we. The big melt is indisputably affecting ocean sea rise, global weather and so much more.
