White savior complex is definitely a real thing. So I’m reposting, since I came to the realization, with the help of people questioning, that due to the lack of variety of pictures and me embracing the child without even really showing her face it objectified her. I try to do my best at all times and I’m grateful for having woke af followers who continue to educate me, even tho it’s not your job. I don’t take it for granted. Pictures do tell a story of a thousand words and I really want to tell this story right.

I have so much respect for the doctors and everyone involved with similar volunteer projects, most of them doing this on their vacation; no pay, just good hearts. Changing and saving lives. This is not a one time trip. They have native people and people around the world working and living there full time. Operation smile keeps coming back to locations all around the world to work with local doctors and surgeons, follow up on children who are malnourished due to cleft or sick patients and direct patients with other medical conditions to hospitals that can help them.

I’m so thankful and privileged to live in a county I know will provide for me when I’m sick or in need - no matter the size of my wallet. A human right, if you ask me. But until universal healthcare is put in place, your donations will make a huge difference.
